General Terms & Conditions for use of the Forums

Most of the forums on this site are made publicly available to the Dating Site community to provide a valuable resource for Dating Site Owners and Operators and interested parties all over the world. In order to maximize the resource value of these forums and to minimize as much chaos as possible, we require all forum members to abide by the following acceptable use guidelines.

If you have any questions or suggestions relating to these acceptable use guidelines, by all means, please contact any of the forum moderator team members or the site administrator for any assistance you require. They are only too glad to help.

Information Exchange

Generally, the forums on AllAboutDatingSites focus on information exchange and technical support. You have many choices from which to choose. Please be sure to post your information, questions and comments to a relevant forum.

Loosely related or obscure postings may be regarded as off-topic and may be deleted without prior notification or warning.

Commercial Postings

Commercial advertising of Dating Software related services is permitted only in the forums designated as such (commercial). Commercial advertising Posted in noncommercial Forums will be summarily deleted without notice or warning.

Spamming of any kind, either publicly or privately via PM or e-mail, is not tolerated, and will result in an instant ban of the account involved.

Contacting someone through PM or e-mail who specifically asked for information related to commercial services is allowed and is not considered as spamming.

Additional Guidelines

Additional guidelines to a specific forum channel may be provided as a sticky posting (a post always at the top of the first page on the channel), and are an extension to the main forum acceptable use guidelines. These additional guidelines should be read before posting to the channel for the first time.

Cross Posting

Cross-Posting, or posting the same content in multiple channels, is at a minimum wasting our bandwidth and will not be tolerated. We believe that cross-posting is tantamount to spamming (Google does too!), therefore, ALL related posts involved in the cross post may be deleted without prior notification or warning.

Bumping

Bumping postings to the top of the forum channel listing, made to get more attention to the post is generally considered rude and offensive. It will not be tolerated on this site.

When no one has replied to a posting you have made, the appropriate response is to reply in the same thread with more information to further characterize the issue and may help others to better understand the circumstances and better assist in the resolution.

Moderator Duty

Postings that have been modified by forum moderators will be marked as being edited with the moderators name included, and a reason for having edited the post.


Searching For Answers

Before you post a problem you are experiencing, please search the forums for related postings which may help you further characterize or solve your problem.

If the problem you are experiencing is reproducible with a stock/default software installation, please use bug report forum for the software you are using and perhaps to the software vendor site as well. Submitting to the bug report forums on our site will draw the right kind of additional attention to the issue and perhaps a quicker resolution as well.

Community Awareness

As a responsible community member, we hope that you feel obligated to update your profile with you correct contact information and some personal information about yourself so that you and other members can get to know each other and enhance the community experience as well as the communication channels in the forums. As you know from your dating site experience, people feel more comfortable when they are communicating with someone they feel they know. The profile is our vehicle for allowing members to know a little bit about each other.

Your profile details can be accessed via the "Profiles" link in the header menu. By the way, you can control many of the option displays so what information you wish to display publicly. The display on most of the fields in the profile can be switched on or off in the profile menu.

Usernames

Usernames are used to uniquely identify the members in the community. Through the use of a nickname, members can maintain some degree of anonymity if they wish, however, usernames must not contain an email address or URL address of any kind.

Avatars

Avatars are generally used as member identification supplements in the community through the use of an image that is attached to the member profile. Avatars are by no means a method to promote services or businesses. Avatars are for personal use only. Their use for commercial advertising is therefore not allowed in the forums.

Signatures

To keep user profiles consistent, links to external sites must be presented in the standard WWW format (

. Additional comment in the signature should be brief and formatted.

External links to member sites pages are allowed to be entered in profile signatures but members need to be aware that these are links and not advertising opportunities.

Profiles with inappropriate content may be modified without prior notification or warning.

Proposed Solutions (External)

Downloading Solutions

All external solutions (member contributions) discussed in the forums must be freely available under the GNU General Public License (GPL), and must also be freely available for download (excluding the commercial forums) on AllAboutDatingSites.

Postings in the general forums regarding contributions that are not released under the GNU General Public License, or are not freely available, may be deleted without prior notification or warning.

Support Contributors (we need them)

Always assume that the contributor had the best intentions when they posted their contribution. Please be grateful and respect any contributions made, even if you have problems with it. Contributing solutions and problem resolutions generally requires a lot of work and effort by the authors †“ mistreating and disrespecting the author of a proposed solution is not an appropriate response. More likely than not, open criticism and public scolding will make the author think twice about the next time they would like to make a contribution, which is something that we obviously need to avoid in our community.

Not everyone is a master at PHP, though everyone here wants to contribute and improve the project. Please respect this, and "get your hands dirty" by helping out improving the contribution, or by supporting the contribution author, as this is a community effort after all.

Abusive Behavior

Abusive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated, and may (very likely will) result in an instant ban with the accounts involved, with or without notification.

If you have experienced abusive behavior from a community member, please inform the moderator team so appropriate action can be taken.

Be polite! It is not optional! We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously! We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning. Being polite has no negative consequences and the ROI is huge. On the other hand, bad manners will get you banned from this site every time. So the choice is yours!

Moderator Behavior

If you feel a forum moderator is abusing the forum acceptable use guidelines, or is not acting in an ethical manner, please contact the Site Administrator so appropriate action can be taken.
