So, Exactly Who Did Do The Dolphin 6 Rewrite?
If the Dolphin 6 code is so complex that it can not be modified even by Expertzzz who have had access to developers or are developers at Boonex, then the obvious question is " Exactly Who Did Do The Dolphin 6 Rewrite?"
While doing some research on the internet, I happened on the following comments about Dolphin in general and while the comments are not exactly new business, they do raise some interesting points about Dolphin and Boonex in general that one ought to very seriously ponder before making the leap into the mostly murky and sometimes very dark waters generated by the hackers at Boonex, not to mention the myriad opportunists that call themselves the Expertzzz. Although the writer seems to be missing some of the historical perspective about Boonex, these comments seem to be pretty insightful. I don't know the author but he appears to be an astute a young man who has taken the time to do a little research that can benefit anyone interested in jumping onto the Boonex bandwagon. The references he makes to the "Expert" abandoning the project and the technical evaluation of the latest Dolphin with its "over-coding" bear some attention. The "exceedingly complicated" description and the "bait and switch" on the licensing have been well documented though nothing seems to have come of it in terms of any meaningful legal action against Boonex but who knows what is around the corner these days. The complexity of the code is nothing more than a veiled attempt by Boonex to make customization by the average site owner, operator or developer almost impossible. Although it is not encryption, at least not using the standard methodology, the inability to make code changes and have them "take" has the same effect as being Zend encrypted. The point is that is it NOT Open Source if you make the code so convoluted that it can not be successfully modified or fixed by an average programmer familiar with Dating or Social Networking software. Frankly, I don't know any other "Open Source" software that has this bogus feature and by the way, ONLY Boonex benefits by this big brother convolution tactic, no matter what they choose to call it or describe what the intention is, user friendly isn't the core motivator for its implementation you can be sure of that ... From a hard look at the code, I can tell you that it is nothing short of ponderous and full of bugs by intention, no matter what nonsense Andrey writes in his blog. This scam makes the aeDating fiasco seem like child's play by comparison. Code:
Content visible to registered members only. Please Click Here To Register The rewrite in practice gives Boonex complete control over the code, who uses it and how, not the consumer which is NOT my view of "Open Source" frankly. Not surprisingly, Boonex has never generated a SDK or development guidelines for any of the software that they have released, least of all the current Dolphin 6, nor does it look like they have any intention of ever releasing any development guidelines for it, at least not anytime soon if ever. For all practical purposes and intent, Dolphin 6 may as well be Closed Source for as usable as it is to the end user / consumer except to do really minor alterations to the display content. Boonex would tell you that their software is completely customizable with the tools in the Admin Panel but that is a CON and don't fall for it. Go to the Expertzzz site and see how many unanswered problems are being posted there. The fact of the matter is that the script will display what Boonex dictates unless you are technical enough to strip restrictive code out which would most certainly be a violation of the Boonex licensing model for sure. Observation. This is is completely a matter of Cavaet Emptor, though I have to say that I think if Boonex was a US based company, they would all have been jailed long ago and certainly before it got as out of control as it is now. I have not doubt that the Feds would have shut them down long before Dolphin was ever released. Before you get sucked into the scam, you should take a look at the Expertzzz site and see how many queries are being posted there to say, "I paid $600 for ... and can get no support." Ask yourself, "how did FREE get to be $600?" Enjoy! |
