GoDaddy The Devil You Don't Know...
BEFORE you LEAP into that GoDaddy el cheapo shared hosting plan, you really need to check to see what your landing might be like first!
GoDaddy does not support CRON jobs! GoDaddy does not support SSH! GoDaddy does not support All Privileges on MySQL GoDaddy charges extra for features other sites provide free (Imagemagick) GoDaddy won't let you use PayPal without a credit card to back it GoDaddy does not provide "backup" features on their shared hosting plans GoDaddy can and will take your site down for arbitrary subjective reasons without warning GoDaddy has a objectivity problem with "morally objectionable" (Adult) sites If you didn't do your homework, you either get a "technical" surprise that what you NEED to support your site is not available or the fascist GoDaddy legal department arbitrarily shuts you down without cause but likely to be on moral grounds which is particularly damaging to dating sites that have an "adult themed" site. For a more thorough review of the topic, just do a search on the net for "GoDaddy Sucks" + 2007 and see for yourself. The choice is complete Yours BUT, CAVEAT EMPTOR GoDaddy! |
